Review: Oakley Half Jacket 2.0 with prescription lenses
Our customer service agent Christopher got his hands on a pair of Oakley Half Jacket 2.0 glasses with Rx lenses tailor-made for his needs.
After a few years of intensive use, it was time to replace my prescription sunglasses. I had the chance to try out a pair of Oakley Half Jacket 2.0 XL with Prizm Trail lenses. The Rx prescription was filled by my local optician. Here is my experience.

The Oakley Half Jacket XL 2.0
For my new pair of sports sunglasses, I was looking for contrast enhancing lenses specifically made for the changing light conditions of cycling. The Prizm Trail lenses are just that. In general, a frame curvature as featured by the Half Jacket XL 2.0 makes it more difficult to manufacture lenses with the required dioptres. My prescription with -3.0 and -3.5 were within Oakley’s range though. They offer 100% precise vision across the whole lens, without compromising the protection from sunrays and wind that the curved design offers.

Great Design
Oakley eyewear is known for their unrivalled design. With Oakey’s prescription lenses, you can take advantage of the same style features. The corrective lenses only alter the look in a very minimal way and the weight hardly increases, resulting in great comfort.
The prescription lenses are barely noticable.
Out riding
I have used the glasses on many rides on open roads and shady forest single track, from rain to shine and during all daylight hours. The increased contrast provided by the Prizm Trail lenses is awesome, the enhanced vision is superior to my old prescription glasses under any conditions. Obstacles and contours are sharp and crisp at any moment. The open design of the Half Jacket 2.0 XL still allows enough air to enter, which I especially noticed going uphill.

Getting your prescription Oakleys
Of course, prescription Oakleys are not cheap and most likely, you will have to pay for them out of pocket. In Europe, you are looking at about 450 Euro for the Half Jacket 2.0 XL. Your optician will measure your vision and write the prescription. Oakley than grinds your glasses, built to order specifically for you.
My verdict
I award theHalf Jacket 2.0 XL with Prizm Trail lenses 10 out of 10 points. This optical precision tool is prefect for all light conditions.
