Trickstuff Home Visit - Uncompromising Commitment
The brake is probably one of the most crucial components on a bike, especially when it comes to safety and control. We visited Trickstuff!
They are back! Finally Marzocchi has returned to the world stage with the help of FOX and they did it strong with the new Bomber 58 and Z1.
15 years ago, no manufacture could even get close to offering the same level of smooth progression that Marzocchi did. But good things always come at a cost, and their forks were definitely maintenance intensive.
A while back, Marzocchi fans were shocked to hear a variety of things: Marzocchi is shutting down, Marzocchi is only manufacturing motor bike parts, Marzocchi is being sold and so on. For years, it went on like this until FOX decided to buy and bring life back into the Italian company. Last year, Marzocchi released a new dropper post, but it was obviously that it was a down spec’d FOX version. Fans wondered, does Marzocchi still exist?
And two weeks ago the news came. Marzocchi has made an official comeback and that with the Bomber 58 and Z1 forks!
It took a while, but the Bomber 58 is back! At first glance it looks a lot like FOX 40, but when you take a closer look you can see the signature Marzocchi ‘M’ crown. Offered in black or an eye-catching red, the Bomber 58 will look real fine on every Downhill bike.
The new 58 doesn’t just look like a FOX, but is also built like one with the expected FOX quality.
Travel | 203 mm |
Wheel Size | only 27.5" |
Damper | FOX FIT Grip with compression & rebound adjust |
Spring | FOX Evol Air |
OLD | 20 x 110 mm NON-Boost |
Colour | red & black |
So where’s the difference? Did FOX just create their own competition? Is the Bomber 58 just a FOX 40?
The answer is simple, the Bomber 58 is only available in 27.5” and, besides colour choice, there is only one version. There are no cartridge, spring or damper options. However, the Bomber is much more robust when compared to the FOX 40. This fork is all about rocking the bike park and not about shaving off seconds during a World Cup race. This fork is for the real heavy metal shredders.
The 58 is also available in black.
To summarise, the Marzocchi Bomber 58 is the perfect fork for all Gravity riders who are looking for a super durable fork and aren’t worried too much about weight. This fork is ready to take on all the hits and it will continue head banging long after you are toasted.
Just one look at this fork and it is clear that it is a Marzocchi. Like previous models it uses the same M shaped crown. The casting looks super robust, showing that the Z1 is ready to hit the hardest of tracks over and over again.
The Marzocchi Bomber Z1.
You might ask yourself why you would buy a Marzocchi, when it has the same tech as a FOX fork. In all honesty, it’s the price. With the Z1 you can have a top quality fork at a price that isn’t going to break the bank. It’s a little like sick cover band compared the original. Not the exact same, but it still rocks on.
Travel | 150 - 180 mm (27.5") & 130 - 170 mm (29") |
Wheel Size | 27.5" & 29" |
Spring | FOX EVOL Air |
Damper | FOX GRIP Sweep |
OLD | only Boost |
Colour | red & black |
In my opinion, the Marzocchi Bomber Z1 is a great fork at an even greater price. Let’s be real, in the world of Gravity riding, weight isn’t the driving factor. It’s all about function and the Bomber Z1 comeback does this perfectly.
From the top.
That 'M' so classic.
With the Bomber 58 and Z1, Marzocchi has come back strong. Both of these forks are packed with top FOX tech and both are as robust as a fork can get. Perfect for all sorts of heavy riding and bike park rocking. I’m glad to see a classic brand return to the stage so strong. I personally can’t wait to turn up the metal and drop in to my favourite parks on the new Marzocchi forks!

Aero or lightweight? Well-ventilated or extra safe? The era of compromises in road biking is coming to an end. At least when it comes to headgear.
