Review: Ergon HM2 Full-Finger Gloves
The German ergonomics experts have designed a full-finger glove that makes sweaty hands and calluses a thing of the past.
For me, a good glove has to fit well when my fingers grip the bar without bunching up to avoid calluses or even blisters. It’s perfectly fine when it feels a little too snug and tight with open palms.
The Ergon HM2 gloves were my first choice for the Trans Provence 6-day Enduro stage race.
The perfect fit
My glove size is usually right between size Medium and Large. When measured around the metacarpal bones of the hand (see picture, drawing, size guide), the circumference of my palm is 20.3 cm. This makes the Ergon HM 2 full-finger glove a size Large for me. Its ergonomically optimized shape is tailored to hold a handlebar, just as I like it. Wrinkles are basically impossible.

What’s in a glove?
The HM 2 features a synthetic-leather surface in the palm area which is supper grippy and its thin seams are hardly noticeable, making the Ergon glove super comfortable. The back of the hand is covered with breathable mesh. Thumb and index finger have little silicone padding for extra grip on shifters and brake levers, making grip tape unnecessary.

My verdict
In general, gloves are similar to saddles and shoes. Everyone has very individual, anatomical needs so it’s hard to make more precise recommendations. I can only tell you, that the Ergon HM2 is a great fit for me.
I have been riding with the Ergon HM2 gloves in combination with the Ergon GA2 grips for over six months now and they did a stellar job during the renowned 6-day Trans Provence Enduro stage race. Its performance and durability leave nothing to desire.
