Mountain Biking the Clwyd in Wales
Rounding out our UK road trip, we hit up some pristine trails in northern Wales.
Riding in the Highlands is something every biker should do at least once. Beautiful scenery and awesome trails make for great shredding.
We started the second day of our trip a little slow. With a night at an Edinburgh pub behind us and a classic Scottish breakfast, we were on our way. All three of us were super excited to begin another day of biking!
Sunlight shining through.
After packing everything up in our van, we began our trip to Blair Atholl. We decided to heed a recommendation from one of our friends at Endura, and after riding with them the day before, we were super stoked for more Scottish trails. Two hours after our departure we arrived and began to get ourselves ready for some shredding.
The forests were extremly beautiful.
Riding along rivers is always a treat.
The first few meters immediately revealed the natural beauty around us. We followed fast flowing rivers the colour of whiskey and the trails moved through picturesque forests. Soon, things started to get serious with creek crossings and stone drops that kept us alert. After a while we forgot about how wet everything was and began to ride straight through the puddles in true Highlands’ style.
The farther we rode the trail, the more the flora began to change. Due to this, we had to stop often and take more pictures. This slowed us down, but it didn’t matter, it’s all about the journey anyway. The muddy, well-shaped trails took everything out of us, however we were elated at how awesome the ride was.
Ride on into the wild.
Fun fun fun!
All in all, the trails were top notch. They showed us what the Highlands have to offer and we could have spent days there riding more and more. There are just so many trails, it’s hard to keep track of what to do next. The trails in the Highlands are perfect for riders of all skills, with varied types of ground conditions, from gravel to slippery roots. We will be back to hit up more of the plethora of trails offered. Cheers!
