The Gravel Grinder Pro Handmade TLR from Challenge is a handmade 28" folding tire for adventure and all-road use, and can be ridden without an inner tube. It has a smooth diamond tread in the centre and side knobs that grip soft, slushy ground when cornering.

Tyres marked as Tubeless Ready (TLR) can be used with or without a tube. A sealant must be used for tubeless mounting. Challenge tyres should not be mounted on wheels that do not meet ETRTO and ISO standards. Non-compliant wheels could cut through the sidewall above the bead, causing the tyre to burst and possibly injuring the rider.

Handmade tires combine essential characteristics such as natural materials, ultra-fine carcasses and a flat, flexible shape to achieve top values in comfort and rolling efficiency.

Natural rubber - Smart hardness grade
Tyres made of natural rubber earn particularly high marks in terms of performance, comfort and control and boast a notably long service life. They are available in various degrees of hardness, where " Smart" translates to a rather firm profile that improves durability and rolling efficiency.

SuperPoly
The SuperPoly carcass is made of polyester, which is characterised by its durability and waterproof aspects, while at the same possessing remarkable flexibility. The TPI number is significantly higher than for other carcasses, so the material is finer and therefore more flexible.

PPS2
The Puncture Protection Strip (PPS) is a special material layer between the tread and carcass of a tyre to increase its puncture resistance. In PPS2 tyres designed for natural paths and cobblestones, there is an additional layer of fabric under the carcass for extra protection (slightly thicker in tubeless tyres), as well as a bead-to-wall ply that retains air in tubeless tyres.

Handmade Tubeless Ready
Handmade TLR tyres are made from the same materials and using the same processes as Challenge's handmade tubular tyres, except that no inner tube is incorporated. The carcass is wrapped around an aramid bead so that the tyre can be mounted on a clincher rim. Handmade tubeless ready tyres impress with their flat shape, which allows for a natural deformation of the carcass on uneven ground and a lower rolling resistance. A tubeless set-up with sealant maintains the signature suppleness of handmade Challenge tyres.
