PlusBreaker
A puncture protection made of highly elastic special rubber is used between the tread and the carcass. Almost impenetrable, this puncture protection successfully defies foreign bodies of all kinds. Even a thumbtack can't penetrate it. The carcass is reliably protected from injuries. Tyres with PlusBreaker can now be found in almost every segment: whether road bike, cyclocross or city/touring, the PlusBreaker guarantees maximum safety without negatively affecting the tyre's riding characteristics. The consistency of the Breaker has been adjusted so that the tyre does not feel spongy when cornering. The PlusBreaker is pure puncture protection.
Note: Please check the recommended air pressure weekly using a pressure gauge. Plus tyres are very stiffly built, making it difficult to feel the air pressure. Tyres that are underinflated have a higher rolling resistance and also wear out faster.
TWI-Wear Indicators
Treadless tyres in particular usually do not offer any usable indication for timely replacement, like tyres with a raised tread do. For this reason, Continental started to introduce wear indicators on treadless Road bike tyres for the first time in 2004 with the Grand Prix 4000. The TWIs (Tread Wear Indicators) can now be found on almost every Continental Road bike tyre.
In the road bike segment: two circular depressions in the middle of the tread. If these are no longer visible, it is time to change your tyres.
