Fulcrum Speed 42 is an aerodynamic, extra-light road bike wheelset from the top segment with 42 mm deep and 23 mm wide rims made of highly modular FF100 carbon. Compared to the previous model, both handling and reactivity have been improved and new top values have been achieved in terms of smoothness and comfort. The rim base has no holes, which is why no rim tape is required for mounting tyres, whether tubeless or with an inner tube. The hubs, which are compatible with center-lock brake rotors, have ceramic bearings and smaller flanges and bodies than before. This reduces wind resistance without compromising rigidity. The freehub has been updated and made even more efficient too. The Speed 42 wheels are laced with aero spokes in a 2-to-1 pattern to optimise power transmission.

Technology:
MoMagMoMag stands for Mounting Magnet and refers to a type of fastening for spokes in the rim bed. The spoke nipples are placed in the rim via the valve opening and brought to their destination by means of a magnet. The spokes are screwed into the nipples as standard. This also makes it possible to maintain and replace spokes with little effort.
Undrilled Rim Bed
The rim bed is continuous and has no holes for nipples. The nipples are inserted over the valve opening and guided with a magnet to the connection point of the rim. This eliminates the need for rim tape, increases the durability of the rim and allows the spokes to be tensioned more, resulting in greater stiffness.
DRSC
Directionated Rim-Spoke Coupling is an exclusive rim-spoke connection system. In this way, the rim, spokes, nipples and hub are matched to each other, and the same tension value is achieved at every point. All critical areas of increased voltage are eliminated.
USB
USB stands for Ultra Smooth Bearings. These are ceramic bearings for hubs that enormously increase the smoothness of the wheels, minimise weight and keep maintenance manageable. USB bearings are about 50% smoother than standard bearings. This means that more power is converted into direct propulsion and is no longer lost through friction.
Two-to-One Spoke Ratio
In order to avoid energy loss, two-to-one wheels are equipped with double the number of spokes in critical areas. In the case of rear wheels, this takes into account the increased forces on the drive side. Front wheels have twice as many spokes on the side of the brake rotor.
