Maxxis Rekon is a very voluminous tyre that you can use for daily touring, forest rides and All Mountain shredding, but it can also handle rough terrain. The TR version with EXO sidewall protection is designed to be ridden tubeless with sealant, but can of course also be ridden with a tube. Maxxis recommends the Rekon primarily on the rear wheel, which is best combined with a Forekaster in the front, but tyres with more aggressive treads work as well.

Note from the manufacturer:
Maxxis strongly advises against the use of ammonia-based sealant. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and can weaken it by up to 30% after only a few months, depending on the amount used.

For the Dual Compound, two different rubber compounds are processed into one tread strip. The arrangement of the compounds is planned individually according to the desired properties of Maxxis tyres.

EXO Protection
This extremely cut and abrasion resistant material protects the sidewalls of various Maxxis MTB tyres. It is very tightly woven, light and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tyres remains convincingly good.

Wide Trail (WT)
This design optimises the tread layout and tyre shape on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tyres are designed for narrower rims and become square on wider rims, resulting in a less than optimal performance. WT tyres are optimised for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension of 30 - 40 mm.

Tubeless Ready
Tubeless tyres have many advantages: you can ride with less air pressure. This gives better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube, the risk of punctures is reduced. Maxxis TR tyres are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other " Tubeless Ready" tyres, because the bead of Maxxis TR tyres is completely covered with a rubber layer, just like a real UST tubeless tyre. As a result, tubeless mounting is successful for all rims with standard dimensions even during the first inflation and with little liquid.
