A worn chain provokes poor shifting behaviour and drastically shortens the service life of the sprockets. The CC-3.2 wear gauge shows exactly whether a chain is still within the tolerance of 0.5 or 0.75 % elongation - the values at which most manufacturers recommend changing the chain.
The revised CC-3.2 is longer and even more accurate and offers permanent measurement markings.
