Air suspension built right in: the Big Apple Wired Tyre by Schwalbe
The trend towards the balloon bike began in 2001 with the Big Apple: comfortable cycling without any complicated technology! The air cushion of the tyres acts as a natural form of suspension. With approx. 2 bar, a Balloonbike rolls wonderfully easily and with full suspension effect. A normal tyre with a width of 37 mm has to be inflated hard as nails at 4 bars to roll similarly well.

But even with these bikes, loads and average speeds are higher than with normal bikes, so Schwalbe recommends only certain tyres as " E-Bike ready 25" (all Marathons, all Energizers, Big Apple, Big Ben, Smart Sam Plus).
