The bottom bracket ensures that your crank rotates smoothly in the frame. In the narrower sense, there are no specific mountain bike bottom brackets, road bike bottom brackets or gravel bottom brackets; however, different manufacturers each set their own priorities with regard to dimensions or use, e.g. with smooth-running or dirt sealing properties.
