Shimano CUES FC-U8000-1 - Hollowtech-II crank with one chainring for city and touring

The CUES crankset FC-U8000-1 was designed by Shimano for Linkglide drivetrains on high-quality city bikes and touring bikes. It is suitable for 1x9-speed, 1x10-speed and 1x11-speed gears. The special tooth profile of the chainring efficiently guides the chain even in rougher terrain and prevents it from jumping off. The Hollowtech II design ensures highly efficient power transfer and outstanding stiffness with the lowest possible weight. Like the crank arms, the spider and chainring are also made of lightweight aluminium, which also saves a few grams. The size of the chainring is chosen so that it can be pedalled harmoniously and comfortably over long distances. The crank produces a chainline of 50 mm, which is why frame installation widths of 135 mm and 142 mm are compatible. The Q-factor is 180 mm.

Hollowtech II
Shimano Hollowtech II is a crank bottom bracket system designed to achieve an ideal ratio of stiffness, weight and rotational efficiency. It is based on an integration of the bottom bracket and the right crank arm and works with a 24 mm axle or bearing diameter, which has proven to be optimal in terms of stability. In many cases, the bearing cups are on the outside so that the load is better distributed. High-quality precision seals ensure a long service life.

Dynamic Chain Engagement+
Dynamic Chain Engagement+ is Shimano's term for a special tooth profile of single chainrings intended for off-road use. This improves the chain hold and counteracts chain drop on rough ground. It also minimises wear and increases pedaling efficiency.
