The Shimano SL-U4000 from the CUES series is a 9-speed shifter for city, touring and mountain bikes with Linkglide drivetrains. It is attached on the right-hand side via a clamp to handlebars with a clamp diameter of 22.2 mm. As a Rapidfire Plus model, the SL-U4000 scores with fast gear changes and can downshift up to two gears at once. It has a fixed visual gear indicator that gives you more control over gear changes. The levers are easily accessible, ergonomically shaped and can be operated with little effort. This ensures comfort and more enjoyable riding. The shifter is made of aluminium, steel and synthetic resin. A steel shifter cable with a friction-reducing coating is included.

Rapidfire Plus is a type of Shimano shift lever construction that has been common in the mountain bike sector since 1985. Two levers, the main lever and the release lever, are used instead of a twist shifter. Rapidfire Plus shift levers, as the name suggests, ensure fast shifting. In addition, depending on the model, it is possible to downshift up to three gears with one shift stroke.
