The Shimano PD-EF205 platform pedals - perfect for urban use

The Shimano PD-EF205 are platform pedals for city and touring use. They have a closed aluminium body with a rubberised, contact surface with tread. This is why they are slightly heavier than their sister model PD-EF202, but guarantee a continuous shoe-pedal contact without any pins. The pedals have a durable steel axle and offer commuters and recreational riders the control they need. Last but not least, the PD-EF205 is available in several attractive colours.

I need to give these a bit more time and thus might edit my rating. However for trying them for a while now I must say that I am a bit disappointed. Being a big fan the "classic" PD-EF202 variant of these pedals my expectations were very high. I wanted to try this variant as it promised good grip without damaging leather soled shoes. They are right it doesn't do any damage to your dress shoe soles but neither do they support any grip at all. The intended use was a singlespeed city bike but even for this light application I do not consider it suitable. Will switch over to the proven MSK Sylvan hoping to come to the perfect intersection of grip comfort and non damaged shoes. I still really like the design and build quality which is just great so for that these pedals still get 3 stars.
