The Shimano SM-CS50 cable stops are for mounting on the braze-on sockets on the down tube. The version suitable for steel frames has a curved underside, as these frames have a narrower down tube. The version for aluminium frames has a rather flat underside because these down tubes are wider in diameter. This way, you can make sure that the cable stop is properly affixed to the frame. A pair of mounting screws is also included.
