The Shimano Saint BR-M820 disc brake set with its powerful 4-ceramic piston brake calipers is the ultimate Downhill and Gravity brake. Thanks to Ice Technologies, the system does not overheat and the braking performance remains constant even on the most difficult descents. One way bleeding also allows the calipers to be quickly and easily bled. On the brake lever side, the BL-M820-B scores with Servo Wave, a design for better modulation of the braking force, as well as with the I-Spec integration option of shift and brake levers.

Technology:

Servo Wave
Shimano Servo Wave technology optimises the travel of your brake levers. During the braking process, the brake pads are guided quickly to the brake rotor with very short lever travel. The greater part of the lever travel is reserved for the actual braking force. In this way, you can apply your braking power in a more targeted manner and use it more effectively.

I-Spec
I-Spec enables the connection between the brake lever and shift lever on MTB derailleurs from Shimano. The main advantages are a cleaner look at the cockpit, more space on the handlebars and, of course, weight savings.

One-Way Bleeding
One Way Bleeding is a technique used on Shimano calipers that facilitates brake bleeding. The hose routing has been optimised so that no air bubbles remain in the brake calliper. In combination with the funnel, the brake can be bled cleanly and easily.

J-Kit
J-Kit is a simple line connection system for hydraulic brakes from Shimano, so that you can install your brakes quickly and easily. The brake hose does not come connected to the brake to facilitate routing of the hose in the frame. The brake hose is already filled with oil in the J-Kit and sealed with a thin membrane. There is a small pin in the J-Kit brake lever that pierces this diaphragm during assembly to allow oil to flow.

I-Spec brake levers have a new mount as of 2014 (Version B). As of now, there is no compatibility to shifters with old I-Spec mounts. However, these can be made compatible with the I-Spec brake levers using the I-Spec adapters (SM-SL98-B for XTR, SM-SL78-B for XT and SLX, SM-SL82-B for Saint).
