Specialized Allez Sprint Frame Kit
Specialized Allez Sprint frame kit - build your own aluminium superbike
The Allez Sprint from Specialized is an aluminium frame that has been optimised down to the last detail, allowing you to build a super-fast road bike. Modelled on the Tarmac SL7, it offers practically the same riding dynamics, whether in a sprint to the finish, a decisive attack or a technical descent. Using hydroforming, the bottom bracket and down tube are made from a single part, which ensures efficiency and stability. Add the highly complex head tube and you get a balance between the power at the pedals and the handlebar input, so that you can move safely at the top speed limit. The whole thing was assembled using the Smartweld welding process to perfect the aerodynamics, power transmission and handling without adding weight. The Allez Sprint is 41 seconds faster over 40 kilometres than its predecessor. To ensure that comfort is not neglected, it has adopted the lowered seat stays, FACT carbon fork and carbon seatpost of the Tarmac. The frame has an uncomplicated BSA bottom bracket and is suitable for both aero and standard setups as well as for internally routed electronic and mechanical drives. There are no limits when it comes to creating your aluminium superbike.

Technology:
D'Aluisio Smartweld Technology (DSW)D'Aluisio Smartweld welding technology, named after its inventor Chris D'Aluisio, is based on so-called hydroforming. Hydroforming is a process that uses hydraulic pressure to shape aluminium. A flange with seam preparation is then formed, which is then welded. This improves accessibility during welding, produces cleaner welds due to more even heat distribution and distributes the jump in stiffness over a larger area. This not only ensures smoother stiffness transitions and lower load peaks, but also contributes to material and weight savings because thinner wall thicknesses can be used. This technology makes it possible to get the best out of aluminium, and to produce frames that are nearly comparable to carbon models in terms of precision and strength, but are naturally much more affordable.
Aerodynamic Expertise from Specialized
" Aero is everything" is not an empty slogan at Specialized. Their engineers rely on decades of experience in aero design, and use a variety of state-of-the-art methods in the developing top aero racing machines. Central to this, of course, is the wind tunnel (" Win Tunnel" ) at the company's headquarters in California, which is available for round-the-clock testing. It is specially designed to meet the requirements of cyclists and typical situations in road cycling, such as team time trials or riding in a group. The development process always begins with the FreeFoil Shape Library, a collection of countless tube shapes and structures which helps engineers figure out the most interesting configurations for wind tunnel testing. But one does not always have to analyse actual objects. There is also Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), which uses computer simulations to experiment with aerodynamic properties. Specialized also makes use of the Data Acquisition System (DAQ), which collects data such as a rider's power, speed, riding position and wind angle of incidence during practical tests on the road or in the velodrome. In turn, conclusions can be drawn from all this information for use in bike fittings and fine tuning.
