Specialized Diverge STR Pro Carbon 28" Gravel Bike - blaze-violet ghost pearl/54 cm

Specialized Diverge STR Pro Carbon 28" Gravel Bike

Item number: 89755

The Diverge STR Pro by Specialized is a gravel bike with innovative all-round suspension

The Specialized Diverge STR Pro is a carbon gravel bike with SRAM Force eTap electronic and X01/GX Eagle AXS 1x12-speed drivetrain and sophisticated suspension that doesn't sacrifice efficiency. Thanks to the STR (Suspend the Rider) front and rear suspension concept, you benefit from increased comfort while maintaining efficient forward movement. You are specifically protected from vibrations without the whole bike being affected, as would be the case with a full-suspension bike. STR is made up of two parts: at the rear, Future Shock Rear technology on the seat and top tubes gives you unprecedented comfort thanks to a sophisticated, low-maintenance damping system. At the front, Future Shock 2.0 technology, a coil-based damping hydraulic system in the head tube, absorbs bumps without sacrificing speed. The ride is noticeably smoother, which increases your confidence on difficult ground conditions and allows you to ride faster. The bike performs impressively in gravel races and on gravel adventures with its relatively low weight, speed and perfect handling. The geometry has not only been optimised for off-road use, but with its longer reach, flat head tube angle and greater fork offset, it also proves to be extremely modern, providing stability in all riding situations. Even wider tyres and 650B wheels are no problem. The Diverge STR also features numerous accessory mounts and even a SWAT™ opening on the down tube, which is usually reserved for Specialized mountain bikes. With this bike, you shift completely wirelessly, climb faster, keep control downhill and have lots of fun off of paved roads.

Technology:

FACT™
FACT is an acronym for " Functional Advanced Composite Technology" and summarises all the know-how that Specialized has in the use of carbon fibre. It is a holistic approach, which primarily concerns the bike frames, but is found in many components such as handlebars, stems, saddles etc. The starting point is always the awareness for the needs of riders and the capability to fulfil them. Next, the selection of fibres, resins and fabric layers takes place; in this process the quality of the carbon and the arrangement of the fibre layers play an important role. It is important to find the right set-up for the project at hand and the intended location or rather the area of application. It is often necessary to differentiate from model to model at several points. In the final step, attention is paid to processing the material in a way that allows the desired advantages in terms of low weight, rigidity and stability to be achieved.

SWAT™
SWAT is the acronym for " Storage, Water, Air, Tools" and describes a whole range of solutions that Specialized offers for space-saving accessories. There are SWAT elements that are built into Specialized frames from the get-go, such as the opening below the bottle cage on certain mountain and gravel bikes. And there are SWAT components which can be retrofitted to any wheel, e.g. the Conceal Carry Tool or the EMT Cage Mount Tools for SWAT bottle cages. The aim is to always use an existing, unused space to carry accessories such as drinking bottles, inner tubes, tools or CO2 cartridges, while being within easy reach, in a safe space and without impairing the aerodynamics. This often results in backpacks or bags being out of the question and emergency solutions such as spare tubes tied to the frame are something that everyone wants to avoid.

Future Shock 2.0
The Future Shock 2.0 System is an adjustable hydraulic damping system for road and gravel bikes developed by Specialized in collaboration with McLaren Applied Technologies. It is based on a cartridge with several springs, which is used in the head tube. When you ride over a bump in the road, it offers up to 20 mm of travel - in a vertical direction to be specific. This results in a shock-absorbing effect without - as would be the case with horizontal compliance - any loss of speed. You stay fast, but ride more comfortably, especially on long distances. Numb hands and tired arms are prevented, which in turn increases performance. Compared to suspension fork systems, Future Shock also has the advantage that the geometry of the wheel and thus the handling can remain unchanged.

Future Shock Rear
The Future Shock Rear System refers to an adjustable rear suspension at the transition from top tube to seat tube. It essentially consists of a frame post on the seat tube that serves as a spring, a damper and a tensioning link as a connecting piece. If the ground is uneven, the frame post and seatpost move against the rear wheel movement and compensate for it. You benefit from up to 30 mm of travel and maintain your central riding position. The result is increased comfort and more safety with efficient propulsion at the same time. The oil shock is elegantly hidden in the top tube, where it is protected from dirt and requires no service. For optimisation on the fly, a three-position lever (soft, medium, hard) is available for compression. By turning the frame post by 90° you can also switch between a stiffer and a softer spring characteristic. For this you need a 4 mm and a 5 mm hex wrench. In addition, there are nine different frame posts with different degrees of hardness so that you can optimally adjust the suspension and damping to your body weight and riding style.

Information on Frame Posts:
  • Frame Post 1: Hardness 30 / 38 N/mm, Recommended Rider Weight 50 - 70 kg
  • Frame Post 2: Hardness 25 / 42 N/mm, Recommended Rider Weight 65 - 80 kg
  • Frame Post 3: Hardness 40 / 48 N/mm, Recommended Rider Weight 70 - 85 kg
  • Frame Post 4: Hardness 45 / 53 N/mm, Recommended Rider Weight 75 - 95 kg
  • Frame Post 5: Hardness 50 / 58 N/mm, Recommended Rider Weight 85 - 100 kg
  • Frame Post 6: Hardness 55 / 65 N/mm, Recommended Rider Weight 95 - 115 kg
  • Frame Post 7: Hardness 60 / 72 N/mm, Recommended Rider Weight 105 - 125 kg
  • Frame Post 8: Hardness 28 / 34 N/mm, Recommended Rider Weight 50 - 70 kg
  • Frame Post 9: Hardness 40 / 49 N/mm, Recommended Rider Weight 75 - 125 kg
