Zipp 303 Firecrest® Carbon Clincher Tubeless Disc 6-bolt Wheel
Knows no limits: the 303 Firecrest® Tubeless Disc wheel by Zipp
At the Paris-Roubaix 2010, the 303 achieved the seemingly unthinkable: It became the first carbon wheel to win on the difficult surface and dreaded cobbles known as the " Hell of the North" . Since that day, the 303 has set the standard for what is possible with a carbon wheel. It has shown the world that aerodynamic improvements do not necessarily have to come at the cost of reduced durability or increased weight. Now road bikes are able to go to places where they have never been to before; riders demand more from them and ride them harder than ever before. At the same time disc brakes are rewriting the rules of rim design. With its disc-specific tubeless rim, the 303 Firecrest® Carbon Clincher is now 21 mm wide on the inside and faster than ever before.

Technology:
Firecrest®Through the pioneering use of software to analyse numerical fluid mechanics and the power of a supercomputer, Zipp is able to understand exactly what makes wheels go fast. Zipp then tests the most promising rim shapes in the wind tunnel and on the road. This process led to the creation of Firecrest rim technology, which allows the wheel's airflow and centre of gravity to be controlled more effectively, resulting in better aerodynamics, better handling in crosswinds and an overall better cycling experience.
ABLC™
The revised ABLC (Aerodynamic Boundary Layer Control) design reduces drag through more and smaller swirls to provide unsurpassed stability and handling even in the strongest winds.
VCLC™
(Visco-Elastic Constrained Layer Control)
A technology in which a vibration-absorbing material is incorporated between the carbon layers in the rim area. Blows can be absorbed better and vibrations are reduced by up to 10%. This drastically reduces signs of fatigue on the rim. The muscles of the rider also tire much more slowly. The wheel also has significantly improved traction, as it does not bounce or stutter in curves, for example.
